As gardeners we do not use paint for our masterpieces, we use plants! Instead of a brush, we use a shovel!
The Palette was started because being a passionate home gardener who had trouble finding unusual plants was frustrating.
The Palette was started because many of the plants that were available were treated with harmful chemicals.
The Palette was started because a great garden center should be more than just some shelves of products.
Gardening is more than just a hobby with most of us; it is stress relief, a connection to nature, a spiritual endeavor even. We not only beautify our corner of the universe, but the plants we nurture adds essential oxygen. It is also those same plants that give back to the universe a group of people made better for the experience--in other words--gardeners.
Therefore, the decision was made in 2000 to start a garden center that featured unusual items from around the world all with the environment in mind.
Of course, putting the actual details into physical reality took a few years, but finally the reality is here!
Our mission is to provide you with the most unusual plants and supplies available, all with the environment in mind.
The Planted Palette is one of the newest organic garden centers in Central Illinois. We offer a range of the best and most useful gardening supplies and plants from around the world.
You can rest assured that you will not find toxic chemical products for sale here at the Planted Palette. While we can appreciate that everyone has the right to choose which products they use, we are choosing NOT to use or sell any chemicals. Our hope is to lead the way towards safer natural gardening.
All of the products that we sell are items that we use ourselves, so if you have any questions or need help in making decisions between any of our products, please feel free to contact us for advice. Even if we don't sell it, you can trust our knowledge to guide you to many beneficial products.

SUSTAINABILITY:
The Planted Palette is entirely a green company! We adhere to the strictest environmental protocols by: sterilizing and reusing our pots; using and creating compost; growing our own organic hay for mulch; fertilizing with all natural products; pest and weed control are done either by hand or with all natural products. We also offer green landscaping and garden maintenance at reasonable hourly prices for our environmentally concerned clients. We are licensed and insured.
